The mechanical arm is a kind of mechanical device, which can be automatic or manually controlled; Industrial robot is a kind of automatic equipment, mechanical arm is a kind of industrial robot, and industrial robot also has other forms. Therefore, although the meanings of the two are different, the contents of the reference overlap.
So simply speaking, there are many forms of industrial robots, and the mechanical arm is just one of them.
Industrial machine arm
Industrial machine arm is "a kind of fixed or mobile machine. Its structure is usually composed of a series of interlinked or relatively sliding parts to grasp or move objects. It can achieve automatic control, repeatable programming, and multiple degrees of freedom (axes). Its working mode is mainly to achieve the target position by doing linear movement along the X, Y, Z axes."
Industrial robot
According to the definition of ISO 8373, an industrial robot is a machine device that automatically performs work and realizes various functions by its own power and control ability. It can be commanded by humans or run according to pre arranged programs. Modern industrial robots can also act according to the principles and programs formulated by artificial intelligence technology.
Differences between robots and mechanical arms
·Mechanical arm is a kind of mechanical device widely used in the robot field, which is widely used in industry, medical, military and space fields. The mechanical arm is divided into four axis five axis six axis multi axis, 3D/2D robot, independent mechanical arm, hydraulic mechanical arm, etc. Although there are many kinds, they have one thing in common: they can receive commands and accurately locate points in three-dimensional (or two-dimensional) space for operation.
·The difference between robot and mechanical arm is that robot can not only receive human instructions, but also perform operations according to human pre programmed programs, and also act according to the principles specified by artificial intelligence. In the future, robots will more assist or replace human work, especially some repetitive work, dangerous work, etc.
European and American countries and Japan have different definitions of robots:
·European and American countries believe that robots should be controlled by computers, and make robots into multi-functional automatic machines through programming; Japan believes that robots are advanced robots, so mechanical arms are included in the definition of robots. European and American countries believe that a mechanical arm with 6 or more axes can be called a robot, while a mechanical arm with 5 or less axes can only be called a mechanical arm; Japan defines the 3-axis mechanical arm as a robot.
·Now the concept of robot in the world has been basically consistent, and it is believed that robot is an automatic machine that realizes various functions by its own power and control ability.
Differences between robot and mechanical arm in application scope:
·The mechanical arm is widely used in industry. Its main technology is drive and control. Generally, the mechanical arm is in series structure.
·Robots are mainly divided into series structure and parallel structure: Parallel robots (PM) are mostly used in situations that require high stiffness, high precision, high speed and no large space, specifically used in sorting, handling, simulation of motion, parallel machine tools, metal cutting, robot joints, spacecraft interfaces, etc; The serial robot and the parallel robot form a complementary relationship in application. The workspace of the serial robot is large, and the coupling effect between drive shafts can be avoided. However, each axis of the mechanism should be controlled independently, and encoders and sensors are required to improve the accuracy of motion.
